Offline Functionality in StockBalancer™

StockBalancer™'s web-based dashboard requires an active internet connection for real-time data access and synchronization. However, the iOS and Android mobile apps include an offline mode designed specifically for warehouse and stockroom environments where Wi-Fi coverage may be limited or unreliable. Offline mode is automatically activated when the app detects loss of connectivity and deactivates seamlessly when connection is restored, syncing any locally recorded activity without user intervention.

What Works Offline

• Physical inventory counting: Full cycle count and spot count workflows are available offline. Staff can scan barcodes, enter counts,and add count notes for any product in the locally cached product catalog, with counts queued for sync on reconnection
• Product lookups: The local product database caches SKU details, last-known stock levels, reorder points,and supplier information for up to 10,000 SKUs, enabling instant barcode scan lookups even without connectivity
• Receiving workflows: Incoming purchase order receipt can be recorded offline against cached open purchase orders, with receiving records synced to the platform when connectivity returns
• Viewing saved reports: Reports and dashboards viewed while connected are cached locally and remain accessible for reference while offline

Offline Limitations and Sync Behavior

Offline mode does not support real-time inventory level updates from other users, live forecast data refresh, or push notification receipt. Changes made offline are stored in a local queue and synced automatically within 30 seconds of connectivity restoration. Conflict resolution for simultaneous offline edits by multiple users follows a last-write-wins rule with supervisor override capability for count discrepancies. The offline product cache is refreshed automatically at each app launch when connected, ensuring that the cached data used during offline periods reflects current product information.
