KnowledgeBrain: Cited AI Answers From Your Own Content
KnowledgeBrain turns a team's scattered documents into cited answers. Connect the content sources you already use, ask questions in plain language, and click every citation through to the exact source document.
What KnowledgeBrain Does
KnowledgeBrain turns a team's scattered documents into cited answers. It connects the content sources a business already uses, ingests and indexes the documents, and answers questions in plain language with inline citations that resolve to the exact source passage. If the knowledge base does not cover a question, it says so rather than answering from general model knowledge while implying your documents said so.
The Problem: Institutional Knowledge Trapped in Folders
The knowledge exists and it is written down. It is spread across SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, Google Drive, Dropbox, and shared folders, in documents whose titles do not describe what is inside them. Finding an authoritative answer means knowing which document holds it and where that document lives, which is precisely the knowledge new people lack and busy people cannot spare. New hires take months to get productive. Experienced people re-answer the same questions daily. The sharpest case is the cross-department one: a customer success manager needs current product and engineering facts and today gets them by interrupting someone.
Most knowledge-base products fail for a reason worth naming: the hard part is not answering questions, it is gathering and organizing the content in the first place. That is why the connector catalog is a first-class product surface here rather than an integration afterthought.
Six Pillars of Trustworthy Answers
- Every answer carries its sources: every factual claim is cited, and every citation resolves to the exact passage, in the exact document, from the exact source. An answer you cannot trace is a defect, not a display detail.
- Grounded, or it says so: if retrieval finds nothing above the relevance floor, KnowledgeBrain states that the knowledge base does not cover the question. It never answers from model knowledge while implying a source.
- The connector catalog is the product: scope a source to specific folders, libraries, spaces, or projects, set a sync schedule, and watch documents ingest. Connection status is always truthful, and a source type without a live transport presents as requiring setup rather than showing fabricated activity.
- A library your team can see into: browse and search everything the system knows, filter by source or type, and preview any document. Knowing what the knowledge base does not contain tells you what to write or connect next.
- Administrators control the corpus: every document with its ingestion status, chunk count, and last-indexed time, with re-index and exclude. Excluding a document removes it from answers immediately without deleting the record, so the decision stays auditable and reversible.
- Artifacts that keep their receipts: turn a grounded answer into a Word or Excel file that inherits the citations from the turn that produced it.
How KnowledgeBrain Works
- Connect your content. An administrator connects a source and scopes it to the folders, libraries, or spaces that matter. Direct upload and managed folder sync run end to end today; SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, Google Drive, Box, Notion, Dropbox, and Slack are configured from the catalog and enabled per customer during onboarding.
- The corpus fills itself. Documents are extracted, chunked, and embedded on a schedule you set. Ingestion is idempotent, so re-syncing never duplicates a document and an unchanged document is never re-embedded.
- Anyone asks in plain language. Retrieval pulls the most relevant passages, the answer is composed from those passages only, and citations come back attached to the claims they support.
- The gaps become a work list. Negative ratings are split by whether the answer was grounded: a grounded answer rated down means the content found is wrong, and an ungrounded one means the content does not exist yet. One tells you which document to fix, the other tells you what to write.
Who KnowledgeBrain Is For
- Customer success managers who need current product and engineering facts without interrupting another team
- Sales and solution consultants answering security, pricing, and competitive questions mid-deal
- Product and engineering teams tired of answering the same context questions repeatedly
- Professional services teams retrieving precedent from past engagements
- Enablement and people teams whose onboarding material has invisible holes
- Knowledge base administrators who need a bad answer to be traceable to the document that caused it
KnowledgeBrain is deliberately department-agnostic. There are no domain-specific tables and no function-specific vocabulary, so one deployment serves several departments at once.
